Note from our Founder
Mom's House in Africa
Mom's House for Children is so excited to be working in South Africa. After a lifelong dream, that I held deep in my heart, January 2020 we launched to serve the children in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. This region has been hit very hard with effects of the HIV and AIDS epidemic that has run rampant in this region for decades. As a result there are many children in dire need of basic needs like access to food, clean water, shelter, love and nurturing.
And it is with great pleasure that I announce that we have just brought clean water to the village of Somerset. It is the first time, this village of almost 10,000 people, have access to clean water for the first time in their lives. Read more about how we are serving the children in Somerset, "one brick at a time", in our projects section of this newsletter.
Somerset is just one of 95 villages, in the Mpumalanga region, that we have committed to serving. We know that we cannot do this alone. It takes a family to raise a child. The Mom's House family welcomes you to our Neighborhood and we thank you for taking time to read the Neighborhood NEWS.
Please share the Neighborhood NEWS with other generous super humans that are looking for more ways to become the most generous version of themselves. If you want to do more, take a moment and click that "Donate Today" button. Your generosity matters!
Love in action,
Strides Against Multidimensional Poverty
Five seconds to us may seem like a brief moment in time, but for some children in South Africa, it’s their last moments of life. Every five seconds a child dies from multidimensional poverty. When people think of poverty, it is typically reduced down to lack of financial means, but it truly goes beyond just income. Poverty exists in a multidimensional scape and affects those less fortunate through poor health, education, and living standards.
"When I first learned about this subject matter, it was very shocking and it just hurt my heart so much." shared Mom's House for Children, founder, Theresa Vigarino.

The world is our Neighborhood and we are calling forth the greatest goodness in our neighbors to simply give because they CARE, not because of a reward, recognition or some personal benefit. We want our neighbors to feel transformed and empowered through the unselfish action of giving.
We all have resources of some kind, and combined together, our neighborhood has the power to help end needless suffering on this planet.
Celebrating Mother's Day
Honoring our caregivers in South Africa
In the regions where mom's house is currently focused, there are many children that are motherless. Mom's House for Children organization was born to help improve the lives of orphans and the most vulnerable children around the world. "As a mom, i couldn't imagine doing anything more rewarding in my life than helping the motherless. What could be better than seeing a smile on a child's face as they drink clean water, put nourishing food in their bellies, open their minds to enrichment programs and learning how to become self-sustaining, like growing their own food." shared Theresa.
In May, we took time to celebrate the caregivers and the administration for our child care facility as we entrust upon them to provide the love and care our motherless children need most.
Party for a Purpose - Encinitas, CA
In April of this year, we had a pillar in the Mom's House community step-up and commit to hosting our very first Party for a Purpose in Encinitas, CA.
In a short two weeks later, we had twenty three amazing humans gathered on a beautiful spring evening in southern California; sharing great food from Casa de Mexico and live music from the one and only Blues hall of famer, Nick Vigarino. We had tons of items donated for raffle and silent auction, all while we shared our important mission. providing an opportunity for each guest to become the most generous version of themselves.

One brick at a time
Somerset, Mpumalanga Region
Somerset is our first of 95 villages in the rural region of Mpumalanga, South Africa. Earlier this year we facilitated a project for drilling a bore hole and installation of a sustainable clean water system. The well pumps water up to the water tower, where it is cleaned and stored for safe drinking. This is the first time ever that this village of 10,000 people has had clean water on-site.
Construction of a child care facility is currently underway with the first phase completing in May. Now the children of Somerset have a sanitary place to go to the bathroom with the grand opening of the Enviro Loo (waterless toilet system).
With grateful hearts, the children in Somerset, performed an original song they created in celebration of Mom's House efforts and looking forward to the completion of the next phase.
This is our "ROI", return on our investments. This is the impact that WE make. This is our LEGACY.
12 Children, singing and dancing, instead of starving and suffering.
Only 3 Million plus, more to go..Love in Action!
CHARITY = LOVE
It's meant to be a pure act.. "Caritas" in Latin.
We are giving our neighbors "an opportunity to be the most generous version of themselves" by sharing their resources to help solve (even just a little bit) the most basic of human problems.. absence of love.
